Valerian Root

Dug from the damp meadows and hedgerows of the old country, Valerian root has long been dried in the ship's stores for the nights when the sea won't let a crew rest easy.

Traditional use: Valerian (Valeriana officinalis) is traditionally used in folk herbalism to support restful sleep and to help calm nerves frayed by a hard watch.

How it's brewed: Add 1-2 teaspoons of dried root to 1 cup of hot spring water, steep covered for 10-15 minutes, strain and drink 1 cup in the evening, an hour or so before bed.
