Palo Santo

The "Holy Wood," cut from a fragrant tree of the South American coast — carried aboard by superstitious crews for centuries to clear a cabin of bad air and low spirits alike, its smoke said to keep even the mosquitoes at bay.

Traditional use: Palo Santo (Bursera graveolens) wood is traditionally burned in folk practice to help create a calm, uplifting atmosphere, and has traditionally been brewed as a mild tea to support respiratory comfort.

How it's used: burn a stick as incense, or simmer half a stick in a cup of hot spring water for 15 minutes and drink once a day.
