Eyebright Herb

A small, delicate-flowered herb of the European meadows, gathered by shore healers for troubles of the eyes since long before any ship's chest carried it.

Traditional use: Eyebright (Euphrasia officinalis) is traditionally used in folk herbalism to support eye comfort and to soothe irritation.

How it's used: Steep 1 tablespoon of the dried herb in 1 cup of boiled spring water for 5-10 minutes, then strain thoroughly through a fine cloth and allow to cool completely. Use as an eye rinse via a clean eye cup — fill halfway, tilt the head back and hold over the eye for 30 seconds, twice per eye, up to three times daily. Wash the eye cup thoroughly before each use. Can also be drunk as a tea.
